Orchard Road
4mm (OO) Diesel Depot
A small 4mm layout (2m x 450mm) with integral fiddle yard of a fictional diesel depot based in Devon between 1975 and 1983. This is fully DCC using a NCE PowerCab with points operated using MERG point accessory decoder with SEEP point motors. The track is Peco code 100, weathered and ballasted using Greenscene ballast and then further weathering applied using an airbrush. Additional 'oily' puddles and spills being added where the locomotives regularily stand. The majority of the buildings are scratchbuilt, including the bridge being based upon those on the Exeter to Barnstaple railway line. The depot features a fully detailed interior, mostly scratchbuilt details. The re-fueling area and tanks being from Knightwing kits, suitably modified and painted.
Acacia Avenue
4mm Parcels Depot
Acacia Avenue is small layout based upon a parcels depot and designed to be viewed from the front corner, as if standing on the road and watching the parcel vehicles being shunted in and out. The track is C&L code 75, flexi track and hand built points (2 off forming 4 sidings) using their components. A simple fiddle yard is fitted at the end, through the bridge. As before, the buildings are scratchbuilt, apart from the Ratio SR concrete platelayers hut. The shop is a fictional record store! Again, the period modelled is 1975-1983 with appropriate stock. Mostly operated with class 25's and 08 shunters!
